What a crazy November...and now December!? Where did the year go? Am I right? With the elections and all the craziness happening all over social media it was hard for me to even concentrate on one thing. It seems as if October flew by too. I at least wanted to get in some blog posts every month, but by the time the election hit it's peak, I just didn't have it in me.  I want to be a good blogger again, I promise, but this year was such a challenge for me! I use to post at least 3 times a week and now I'm lucky if I get one post in a month! Well anyway, I want to take a look back at all the craziness that 2016 has brought myself personally, and of course all the other things that have happened.

One huge thing I did this year was join the 501st Legion! I thought I would take my geek level up a notch and I have zero regrets! I belong to The Green Mountain Squad in Vermont, which is a part of the New England Garrison. Of course Mary is in it too! She is also a Jawa. We made our costumes and it was a lot of fun! I forgot how much I love to sew! The only part that sucked was buying the fabric. The online store that had a great price on it did not have it in stock. It took about 3 weeks for it to come in. I almost gave up and bought white fabric, which I would have had to dye. Luckily the brown monks cloth came in! I also made my bandolier. Turns out I'm quite the crafter.

Last June I finally finished college! I actually would have finished about 2 years earlier, but life happened. My GPA was awesome and my kids were very proud! I can't believe I actually finished, to be honest, there were many times I just wanted to give up. It's weird when you go to college and you're already an established adult. You do it for yourself really and I'm glad I did. I learned so many wonderful things, and some not so wonderful things. I also made some great friends along the way. I think it's an experience that everyone should have, and hopefully someday it will be open for everyone. I wish I could have done it debt free. Oh well...at least Mary made me this super awesome graduation cake resembling the planet of Hoth! I loved the fallen AT-AT!

Throughout the year I used a lot of apps. Some I loved and some I hated! I can't tell you how many I deleted. My favorite this year was definitely SnapChat! We spend a lot of time on our cell phones and it's a great way to keep in touch, especially when you just want to be silly. My brother and I send lots of snaps to each other, usually with some crazy filter that distorts our faces. I love it! My favorite is the puppy filter. My daughter and I used it a lot! There wee some runner ups like the one with the glasses that made you look super silly, that was a good one too!

October was a lot of fun this year! I started to catch up on a lot of my bills, which had been behind from my divorce. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! In fact I probably decorate more for Halloween than any other holiday, maybe Christmas is a close tie. Anyway for Halloween this year I was a puppet and Mary was my Puppeteer. I took first place for the costume contest! I also won best desk! Halloween this year was one of the best ones I've had in a long time!

And how about that election?! Talk about a media circus!! I don't know if I have ever seen more fake news in my entire life! I hope people have learned not to believe everything they see on the internet. Except for this picture, this actually happened. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton actually met and had a friendly meeting in outer-space while Curious Grey cat watched and Hungry Hamster wept and floated nearby. Now brace yourself people of America...well actually the whole world...It's going to be a wild ride with Mr. Trump as our President-Elect who will be entering into office next month. I'm not a fan of Mr. Trump, but we will see what happens. What are your thoughts?
I've overcome many obstacles this year. My divorce and losing my job were two huge ones. I came out on top, and I'm so happy that if you were to tell me I would be his happy 2 years ago I wouldn't believe you. I think the only struggle that I have is being the mom of teenagers. My kids are so amazing, but man, they are still hormone driven teenagers! I have to hide candy in my underwear drawer just to have some for myself! I've never seen two humans eat so much food! I feel like I work to feed them.

How was your 2016? I think this year could have gone a little smoother. I think we lost a lot of great people like Alan Rickman and David Bowie. We also had a great tragedy at the high school my children attend. My son knew them well. These 5 Amazing and beautiful souls were tragically killed and this will be the first Holiday season that their families and friends will be without them. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of them. Life is very precious and very short. Hug your loved ones as much as you can.

I hope everyone has a warm and magical December! The next few weeks are going to fly by for me with the premiere of Rouge One and of course Christmas!

xoxo,
Eeka
