Flash Back Friday!

To begin with, I'm not sure how we even started looking up commercials and shows that were from my childhood, but last night my wife and I sat on our couch with our kids and showed them what television was like in the 80's and early 90's. I never realized how awesome my childhood television was. the shows and cartoons had actual plot lines and there was a moral to each story. Not like the crazy non-sense they have now-a-days. It's like they think our kids are dumb and can't follow a plot? The best part was: NO MEDICATION COMMERCIALS!!! I hate those commercials.

Check out what I came across, this blog couldn't have put it any better:

BORN in the 80′s. We are the last generation who learned to play in the street, we are the 1st who played video games, the last to record songs off the radio on cassettes, the pioneers of Walkman’sand chat rooms. We Learned how to program the VCR before anyone else, play from the Atari, to Super Nintendo. We are the generation of the Power Rangers, “NINJA TURTLES”, Gumby, Saved by the Bell, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Traveled in cars without seat belts or air-bags and lived without cell phones. We did not have flat screens, surround sound, iPods, Facebook, Twitter, computers & the Internet… but nevertheless we had a GREAT time…That’s what i call the good  old days! - AceSmooth

Here's a cool video that will have you feeling very nostalgic...or give you a greater understanding of my childhood:

Commercials were EPIC!!! gotta love those jingles...and News telling us seat belts were dangerous! And no stupid medical/pharmacy commercials!! I swear were all a bunch of hypochondriacs now.

My favorite is the Pogo Ball...you never jumped that high like the commercial...but thought you did!

In tribute to Flash back Friday here's a couple pictures...you will only see once!!

This is me and my brother cir. 1984

And this is me, giving myself bunny ears. I don't know what is wrong with my hair. I think this was on my 10th birthday which makes it 1991....lol
Do you have any memories of shows or toy's you loved back then? For me it was Barbie, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch dolls, Hello Kitty, Magic Nursery Baby, Little Miss Makeup...and the list goes on!

I hope you all had a great week and have lots of stuff planned for the weekend!

Have a great day!

  2. I was born in 1982, so I definitely remember like, 99% of that stuff! Made me a little teary eyed, I must admit. Man, I wish I could go back and relive some of those days. The thing that always gets me, is the Coke commercial where they sang "I'd like to buy the world a coke...." that seriously makes me cry. Every single time. Idk why. lol Those pics are great! I'll have to do some pic posts when I go home for the summer.

Oh man!! That makes me think of Jello pudding pops! Those are the best. Every once in a great while I can find some. Wow. $7 for a meal at red lobster! You can't get that anymore! =)

    Best post yet, Eeka!

  4. So I just stumbled across your blog and I love that this is the first post that I saw. My friends and I were talking what it was like back in those days and it really was SO much better. True, I was born in 1990 but I still got a lot of awesome things from my childhood.

And I'm diggin' your Minnie shirt. Those are the best kinds!
