Vlog : Accents

Saturday, January 14, 2012

It has been a long day for me...to say the least. I went out last night and had a blast. It was a better-late-than-never Birthday outing. It was so much fun, but I didn't go to sleep until about 4 in the morning. So I'm functioning on about 2 hours of sleep. I do have to say that I have some awesome friends.
Anyway as I was tweeting earlier Raven from A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers tweeted about her blog update and it was a Vlog. I guess for a while now, people have been Vlogging about different accents. So I thought, hey why not? So here is my Vlog and I was super nervous, I even stumbled a couple times on my words. I am much more a writer than a speaker, but it looked like fun.
The instructions are to say these words:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

So there ya go! I would like to do more Vlogs but only if you guys are interested. So if you are ask me some questions, either through comments or email which can be found Here. Once I get enough questions I might do another Vlog.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

  1. You say "eggs" just fine and just about everything else. Except for "aunt".
I don't think you have an accent at all :)

  2. Thanks Shakti! I've tried really hard over the last few years to pronounce words better than I use too, living in Vermont helps a lot. But my Cali slang and valley girl twang come out when I'm on the phone with someone back home :)

  3. You have an interesting accent, I was looking at your 'about me' sort of page to see where abouts in the US you came from (not that it would make much of a difference as I wouldn't be able to tell between different US accents anyway! I think you say aunt normally hehe, although I've seen a few of these videos and 'route' seems to be pronounced differently in some other videos (although I've seen some americans pronounce it the same way you do), and 'pecan', but again I've heard americans pronounce it how you do as well, but others differently :). Anyway great video, thank you for linking to me :) xx

    1. thanks! My daughter and I loved watching your accent video, she thought your accent was really cute! Thanks for checking out my Vlog :)

  4. I love the video! I love watching videos & I love hearing voices behind the blogs. I did one too, the other day. I just put it up.

Thank you for stopping by! I absolutely love to read every one of your comments! ♥
