Monday Blues

Monday, January 30, 2012

Today I decided to do something different. I thought I'd make it a little more personal and take some pictures with my iPhone of blue things around my house. This made me feel a little better about it being Monday. I have to work all day and my wife has the next 2 days off...not fair! But that's okay...she can cook and clean...lol.....so here are my blue pictures for today:

My daughter wanted to help (not surprised )
Blue Balloon

The top set is Justice's eyes and the bottom cross-eye'd ones are Jes's (my wife)
This was photo shopped a little :)

My unfinished practice doily...I will finish it...someday

Hand-painted Star coat hanger

This is a blue cup left over from the party..it says hi on it :)

Pretty little blue bird that lives in my bathroom...it has 2 sisters

Electric Blue eye-shadow that's in my M.A.C. palette

I was pretty surprised that I had so many things. It's not a color that I usually think about buying or having. I like pinks, puruple, yellow, grey, black. I wasn't even sure I would find enough blues. I have to say that I love blue eyes though :) I hope everyone has a great Monday, as you read this I will be at my desk waiting for 4:30 to come!

Cupcake Sunday

Birthday (Boy) Inspired

My sons Birthday party was awesome. Everyone came and it was filled with lots of boy stuff. We had an Xbox 360 Kinects tournament that was awesome. My daughter had a sleepover at her friends house so that she didn't feel left out. We had movie night with popcorn and the kids were in their sleeping bags by 10pm! I have to say after 12 years of this I think it will be the last slumber party, only because boys take up a lot of room (and are kinda smelly! haha) The rest of my day will consist of cleaning and relaxing!

Anyway, In light of my sons birthday I thought I would look up cute birthday cupcakes and here are some super cute ideas for boy birthday cupcakes!

These are similar to the 2 birthday cakes I made this week for my son. Boys love dirt cake!

The Vintage Librarian

So I totally felt like an old school librarian in this one. My daughter took most of these pictures and I took some of her too, she is quit the fashionista and her pictures are below. We had a Mommy/Daughter type photo shoot...lol..we had fun. I'd love to see her model professionally someday :) Those glasses are actually prescription and I do need them to see. We had a lot fun doing this, I love including my daughter in everything. I'm lucky that she is as girly as I am!

When the weather gets warmer we are definitely going to do more outfit posts together..she got cold and ran inside after 5 minutes. I hope you enjoyed these!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Friday, January 27, 2012

Brought to you by :

TGIF!!!
The weather is horrible out! It's 16 degrees out and raining, which is not good. All the schools State wide are closed. I will be at work, but my wife has to stay home with the kiddos. I hope that all this wet snow doesn't turn to ice, because that would be very dangerous to drive in. I hope all of you have a great Friday. Class last night was awesome, and just to fill you in I'm a Criminal Justice Major and last was my Criminal Justice Class. I know your probably thinking, huh? But hey, my daughter's name is Justice for a reason. I love fashion, tattoos, hair & makeup, writing and photography, but I once was a correctional officer (and really good at too) and some day I plan on going back. It fulfills my need to give back to my community by making sure it stays safe. Anyway, that's a whole other  story! On to the fill-in-the-blanks! Which is about travel :)

1.   My favorite place I've ever traveled to is    Alaska, my mom lives there and I actually lived with her for awhile. It was breath taking!   .

2.    Tibet     is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by     listening to music and playing games with my kids. we also take lots of silly pictures in the car      .

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are     my iPhone    ,    my kids   and     sweat pants!

5.  My favorite travel companion is    my wife Jes, she is the most fun!

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is    When traveling to Asia on our way to Hong Kong we flew over a hurricane and the plane kept dropping, I was freaking out! Being on a plane for 18 hours isn't fun in the first place, but then it's dropping and hitting really bad turbulence...no thanks!

7.  The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is    All the Filipino food!I was raised eating Korean food growing up, which most people think is exotic, but when your in the jungle in the Philippines, there are things that just should't be considered food, even though my cousins love it! lol Just watch Bizarre foods on the Travel Channel and you will understand.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in   New Jersey on the Jersey Shore with my wife's family or back in L.A. with my family. We really love Vermont though, it's beautiful and unpolluted with nice people :)

Cute...but Strange Thursday

Thursday, January 26, 2012

It's Thursday!
I have so much going on today, where do I start? Classes start this week and I have my first class tonight. I'm kinda nervous, it's always nerve racking the first night because they always make you stand up and do some type of introduction. I'm much better at writing my thoughts (though sometimes my fingers go crazy on this keyboard) then speaking. I feel like I fumble over my words when I'm trying to speak. Power Point is an awesome tool for me! Anyway..enough gibber-gabber here's some pictures to look at...school influenced :)

These guys don't look happy about going to school.

I hope you enjoyed this Thursday's little collection. I'm sure Ill be tweeting away how class is going.
It's almost Friday too! This week will conclude week 2 at my new (temp) job, first week of classes, my son's birthday and Chinese New Year (which celebrations lasts for 2 weeks in Asia!) I still have an all boy slumber party to look forward to this weekend! I'm going to be pooped by Sunday!
Have a great day everyone!

Random Baking

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

The last couple weeks I did some baking, that I didn't post about on Cupcake Sunday. So I thought I would share them today. A while back I mentioned I wanted to make some brownie cupcakes, and I did! I made some super yummy Brownie cupcakes topped with cool whip and rainbow sprinkles. One of the pictures made it to my Instagram but I never got to blog about it. So here are some yummy pictures :)

It was also my Son's birthday on Monday and I baked him a cake. I had no idea what to make for him, plus I'm on a tight budget. So I dug around my cupboards and came up with a dirt looking wormy cake.

We still have cake left and has definitely ruined my diet! But I'm enjoying every bit, it's not everyday your baby turns 12. I still can't believe I have a 12 year old in middle school! Crazy. He liked that cake so much he asked if I could make the same one, but bigger for his party this weekend.
That's it for now, I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

In love with Argyle
totally random...I never wear Argyle..

Sweet Little Details
Flower Hair Pin/Brooch - Icing
Grey Winter Coat - Not sure (Iv'e had this for 6 years)
White Thermal - Walmart
Argyle Vest - My Wife's side of the closet...lol
Denim Skirt - Thrifted
Butterfly Necklace - Icing
Bead Bracelets - Icing
Hello Kitty Bracelet -Gift
Wedges - Thirfted
No Show Bow-tie socks - Chinese Laundry

Butterflies are a symbols of re-birth, long life or soul carriers.

That car wasn't there when we started! lol Good spot for my coat :)

So this outfit is totally random and not what I usually wear at all! I needed to wear something red and noticed that I have nothing red on my side of the closet, but my wife did on her side! She wears a lot of guy clothes, so it's hard for me to steal her clothes unless it's to sleep in, but she has a cute collection of sweater vests! So I threw this together and it didn't look half bad :) So I grabbed the camera (& my wife) and took pictures. I thought hey, how often are you going to catch me in a sweater vest?!

My First DIY!

Chinese Paper Lanterns
These are super easy and fun to do if you little ones in the house. My daughter helped with these but my wife and I ended up finishing them up. We made 16 in all! And The are even more cute if you make them in multiple colors. We used Red & Yellow for Chinese New Year.

All you is :
1. Multi-colored construction paper
2. Scissors
3. stapler or tape (I used a stapler)
4. String or yarn to hang them
5. Thumb tacks

First you fold the paper to make a rectangle or as my daughter calls it: long ways
Next you cut strips into the folded side, but leave about an 1 inch to an inch & 1/2
Then you will unfold the paper and bring the short sides together.
Sorry it's blurry, but next you staple or tape the ends.
 Almost done!
Now you add the handle make little strips long enough for a little arch.
 All done!
Then you find a really tall friend to help hang them, if you don't have one then use a chair :)

All together for Football and Chinese New Year's Eve 1/22/2012
top row: Omar, Me and my neighbor Elma
Bottom: My in-laws Sherri and Steve and Mark (Elma's Husband)

Those lanterns were a lot of fun and we also made our own red money envelopes, that came out really cute.
Hope you enjoyed this!
