Shopping....and other things

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Jes and I went shopping today! Wow prices have gone up! not to mention that the older my son gets the more expensive he has become..not that I didn't know this was coming. I couldn't resist taking a picture of a cute Star Wars gift bag....almost looks like a poster...but it has snowflakes...lol.
We had to buy a new Star for our Christmas tree. The one we had before kind of fell apart. I think this one is simple and cute for our multiple color, no type of theme, decorations. Just like our family, our decorations are kinda of all over the place. Decorations will be up this weekend.
I hate Shopping at Walmart, but when you have a super tight budget sometimes you have no choice. I do have to say that they had a huge variety of holiday cards. We finished up all our cards and mailed them out.
I feel accomplished........cutting down a tree is next!

We're back!

Monday, November 28, 2011

It was a pretty long drive the first day due to snow and almost took us 3 hours to get out of Vermont.

Petunia went with us and she is such a good traveler. Even though the trip down was 9 hours.

My family and I spent 5 days in New Jersey for Thanksgiving. The goodies you see above are from my wife's grandmother (we call her Mom-mom) We stopped by a couple times and went out to breakfast with her.

Lots of pictures were taken on Thanksgiving day and the collage above were some of the highlights. Click on it to make it bigger. The middle picture is Of my father-in-law and his two sisters and his parents  (we call them Pop-pop and Nanny) Dinner was amazing!
I ate soooo much Turkey! I had 2 turkey sandwiches and another Turkey dinner in the following days!
The weather was perfect in New Jersey.
Of we were there with my wife's family, who are wonderful people, and I couldn't help but get homesick.
But that's what happens when you move to the opposite coast that the rest of your family is on.
That colorful picture in the collage was one I captured when the sun was setting and they were all still digging. I helped fill the huge hole up.
Another busy day was Friday. About 15 years ago my wife, her uncle and her brother buried a jar, like a time capsule type thing. They spent about 3 hours digging up Mom-mom's garden trying to find it. It was quite the entertainment for me. They weren't even sure if they were digging in the right spot! it was either 18 or 24 paces from were a swing use to be. The map was lost so they tried going by memory. So it looks like we will have a project for the next couple years!

It was a great vacation, filled with family, love and food! Now it's time to gear up for Santa Claus!
Even though we are Buddhist we still celebrate American traditions and long time celebrated winter festivities.

Time for the Holidays!

Monday, November 21, 2011

Nothing says holidays like rushing around and packing for 4 people and a dog! lol
I've made out the lists for everything that needs to be done before our departure on Wednesday, but I still feel like there is never enough time to get everything done.
I've made it a point to never attend Black Friday..or work on Black Friday (in retail)...so far so good!
So this post will be short and sweet...I have a paper due tonight in my photography class...which cuts into my packing time..which cuts into my sanity time! lol
I have to make sure to squeeze in some meditation somewhere! You won't hear from me probably until next week, so I hope (whoever celebrates Thanksgiving) Has a great Thanksgiving!!
Jes was falling asleep during the football game..so I decided to have a photo op!

Breaking Dawn

Friday, November 18, 2011

So last night we waited in line for 2 and 1/2 hours. That is actually not bad since most people waited anywhere between 8 and 10 hours. I have to admit we did wear Breaking dawn gear...yes we are that dorky, but that's what you do when your fan :)
The movie was everything I hoped for. The director did an amazing job bringing the book to life. The ending of course left us at a point of where you want more!
During our wait in line they had trivia games with give a ways and I won a hat and key chain! I guess I had a one up considering I took Vampires in Literature in College (yes that's an actual course!) I'm glad they had entertainment while we waited!
This movie definitely gives you some blood and scary wolf action. I was holding on to my seat one minute and trying not to throw up the next. I won't give anything away but I have to say that I don't recommend this movie for little ones. The love scenes are pretty intense. Over all we had an awesome night and can't wait for Part 2 to come out!

I LOVE CUPCAKES :)

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Whenever my wife has a day off, we always make sure to have a date...even if it's just a breakfast or lunch date. I had an errand to run in Burlington and we happened to drive by a cupcake shop! I have never seen this cupcake shop, nor did I know this type of eatery existed in VT!
So this is where we had our date today!
It's so adorable inside too!
They have regular sized cupcakes and mini's that are tiny and sweet!
And for you Twilight fans.........
We all know that Breaking Dawn comes out tonight at midnight..and that is where your going to find me!! In line with all the other crazy fans tonight. It was such a fun a little date, and if you can't tell I am team Edward and my wife is Team Jacob. I have to admit that the team Jacob cupcake was delicious  But I am a die hard chocolate fan so my opinion is a little bias. :)
So if your ever in Burlington, VT, you should stop by and get a little cupcake love!
The girls that work there are great and the treats are sweet. Also check out their Facebook page!

Now it's nap time...since I'm going to be up til 4 in the morning! I'm so excited!

Breaking Dawn Eve...lol

It's Breaking Dawn eve!!!! Yay!! Tomorrow night we get to sit in line for like 3 hours, to see a movie we have been waiting to see, for a year! I can't wait! And looky what I have .....The invitation for the wedding!

So I played at the mall today...sniffed around all the clearance racks....even went to a thrift store and made out with a couple goodies. Hello Kitty earrings...a little Panda Wallet (Hot Topic) a sweet corduroy jacket, that Kovu is laying on in the picture...he liked it too. It was a good day. If you click on the picture..poof! It's bigger.
This picture makes me drool!!!

This is an iPro Lens system and I am in love :) This tops my Christmas wish list and I think it's amazing. To learn more about this beautiful invention Click Here . I'm in love with my iPhone and this would make my life even more fantastic, especially when those special moments happen and I don't have my regular camera on me. If anyone out there has this system, I'd love to hear about it!

Petunia

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

This is Petunia, my princess. I rescued her when she was 1 year old. She was very abused by her previous owner and traveled all the way from Indiana to here in Vermont. She is just now getting use to being around men. She is very protective, but a great companion. I love her so much! The best thing anyone could do is give a loving home to an animal in need........she is also a great model ;)

Online Etiquette

Ever since the dawn of the internet, people have been jumping on their computers and pretty much saying whatever they feel. Freedom of speech plays a huge part in this, yet everyone has forgot their manners. In college a couple years ago, one of my professors spent an entire class on this topic. A lot of people have ruined their lives because they were having a heated moment and posted things they shouldn't have. I know I'm guilty of those moments. What happens on the internet and in social networks stays there and sometimes the good old saying: If you can't say something nice....don't say anything at all...especially online because we can't see that your joking. In my opinion there are some people who just shouldn't have access to the internet, but that's neither here nor there. I know there are going to be topics that people want to voice their opinions on, but have all your facts straight before you make a statement. Your on a computer..use it. Everything you need to know is right here, you just need to read. I have to say, because you're not face to face with people I know it makes it a lot easier for them to be jerks, thus ruing it for the rest of us.It won't stop me from blogging and thank goodness there is a delete and block on Facebook....Enough with this...time to go take pictures!!

The un-eventful day

Monday, November 14, 2011

Wow...What a Monday...BORING!!!
I went to work today (I work security) and all I wanted to do was run away! Right now we are in charge of a historical place that is beautiful, but because of hurricane Irene, it was destroyed due to flooding. Anyway since its lonely and desolate it gives me plenty of time to think. So I put together a little collage of my favorite tops with my favorite necklaces. I love butterflies and antique looking pieces and I'm hoping to up my collection. I lost a lot of things in my divorce, but more reason to get more! I also love getting jewelry for the holidays...hint!hint! My wife actually made fun of these pictures because she said there all boob shots....I didn't even realize that when I took them! oh well...lol...and if you click on the picture it makes it bigger!...great...hehehe!

Mommy daughter day

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Lunch consisted of : Mac & Cheese (Kraft..her favorite!)
Snack was Red Velvet cake..homemade by me, I'm quite the avid baker. My dream is to open my own shop one day. We watched a Mermaid show called H20 Just Add Water. It's interesting, filmed in Australia.
Justice and I then went to the park and swung on the swings. There was an adorable little baby next to us laughing and watching us. We watched the sun set and then walked over to the local drug store to buy Fake nails and nail polish....so excited to do our nails! I love Sundays :)

It takes more than just books.

I saw this book at the bookstore the other day and it truly intrigued me. I'm going to go back and buy it, but I have to say that it made me think. Why do we need so many friends on Facebook? How many of these so-called friends do we even see on a regular basis..or even at all? Facebook has become a huge part in many peoples lives. In fact most people use it to prove friendships..or end them. How many times have you heard someone say : That's it! I'm deleting them off my Facebook! Thus ending their friendship in real life also. It sounds silly, but this is where we are at. The internet and all it's major social networks have taken over our lives. I admit, I myself have over 300 friends, which only a handful of them actually care about my existence or if I had a good day. I originally opened a Facebook account to connect with friends in college and then found all my friends from high school...and then connected with co-workers. Yet sometimes I wish there were certain people we could delete, but that would just make work awkward, because how do you tell someone you think they are an asshole for all the derogatory posts without hurting their feelings? And if you delete them they get pissed. It's a catch 22. It amazes me how such a meaningless thing like Facebook could control so many lives. I myself Am done with it, I'm just a mom who works hard to support her children and provide a comfortable lifestyle for her family, I think from now on I'm just going to post quotes and ridiculous updates. No one reads them anyway. I don't think anyone reads these blogs either! lol I will continue to write. It is my passion....maybe someday I will even publish my book. Enough complaining...it's a beautiful Sunday! I think I will fill my day with some reality!

Well....well....

Things seem to have gotten a little better. Lately Jes and I have been trying to figure out our family tree. With all the baby talk that we have been discussing, we thought it would be cool to see where we come from and who we are related too. I seem to I have a very strange family tree. I also found out that I am French Canadian. The search is still ongoing and pretty fun. Hopefully I will have some cool information to share.
