Fill In The Blank Fridays

Friday, December 30, 2011

Tonight is filled with Miso Soup and cupcakes for desert! So while my wife is cooking I thought it would be fun to do this.......You can find the original post here at The Little Things We Do.
I saw a few of my blogger friends doing this and I thought..what the heck..I'll give it a try! I love the New's years theme :) And I love any type of "fill in the blanks" So here we go

1.   New Years is one of my favorite holidays! It's a new year and a time to start fresh.

2.   One of my New Year's resolutions will be to lose my "happy fat!" as a newly wed I gained a few extra pounds that I would love to shed!

3.  A New Year's resolution I've made in the past was to travel by plane more and I did just that. I have a huge fear of flying, but I had to go home to California to visit. I also saw my B.F.F.in Vegas.

4. The most time consuming resolution I ever made was  Going back to college! I'm still doing it!!! lol

5.  This year I will be spending New Year's Eve  at home with my wife and kids...maybe visit our neighbor :) I don't drink alcohol so it's kinda pointless to go to a big party...but I do love people watching.

6.  If I could wish one thing for my new year it would be  To finally get my foot in the door into my career in Criminal Justice.

7.  2012 is going to be  The year of the Dragon which falls on my son's birthday on Jan 23 and I can't wait!!! It's going to an awesome year for us Monkey's :)

That was fun! Dinner is ready :)

See ya later 2011!!

This weekend is the last weekend in 2011...and my oh my, what a year! Here's a little re-cap of the many happenings and highlights.

A crazy Bridal Shower! lol For 2 brides...we were pretty spoiled :)

The Jersey Shore wedding... Buddhist inspired, Asian theme.
Top row:  Me&Jes - Omar & Stephanie (bridal party) - Kevin, Kaylah, Justice, Jes, Me, Cody, & My new in-laws
Middle row:  kissy kiss - Streeter & Cheli (bridal party)
Bottom Row: Jes's Brother & Best Man Kevin & his fiance Kaylah - My son - My daughter & Flower girl Amara

Such a fun day! Everything fell into place last minute. I couldn't believe how stressful it was, especially since I had to do all the planning out of state. My mother-in-law helped with everything and Jes's Great Aunt made our cake and Floral arrangements. No one in my family came, except for my my brother, who lives in Germany, but I'm so grateful for everyone who was able to be there. I spent most of the day on the dance floor...because it was impossible to breathe in that dress!! lol The things we do to feel pretty!

The best part is that we live in Vermont and Gay Marriage is real Marriage :) I even took Jes's last name.

You can see more wedding pictures HERE.

I was going through some of my pictures and found the one on top was very similar to our wedding cheek kiss :)

Anyway...enough with all the wedding mushy stuff!
For our honeymoon we went on a cruise

This was on Carnival Glory. We did a short cruise to Canada out of New York City, just in case we did't like it. Jes caught food poisoning for a few hours after she ate some clams in St. John, but besides that it was awesome!

This dude had some strange outfit everyday!!! I had to take a picture with him!

My daughters big Ballet recital was amazing!

We couldn't take pictures or video in the auditorium...boooo!

We spent a lot of time in Jersey

This is at the beach

One major event this year, was surviving Hurricane Irene. It was one of the most scariest times that my family and I have ever been through. From living in California I have been through earthquakes and fires, but nothing was as scary as Irene was. There are still business' in my town recovering from all the damage. I still get a little startled when I hear sirens. We made it through and the fire fighters evacuated us just in time. We came back the next day and found that everything was still in place....but everyone around us was devastated. We were very lucky!

Since I'm counting my blessings here is a list of things (New Year's Resolutions) I would like to accomplish.

1. Lose the first 10 I'm starting with 10 lbs...so I don't overwhelm myself  (Marriage has made me very happy!)

2. Write more My book isn't going to finish itself!

3. Meditate more once a week and every full moon (it's a Buddhist thing)

4. Up my clothing collection! and take pictures :)

5. Up my shoe collection! and take pictures :)

6. Buy more accessories especially now that I have a pretty jewelry box!

7. Visit out of state family! We are hopefully planning a road trip to Michigan :)

8. Not let turning 31 get me down My B-day is Jan 3rd

9.Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!! with Xbox 360 ;)

10.Play more video games!

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years! I don't like driving anywhere on New Year's so we are staying home....but our neighbors invited us over for some festivities so we will probably be stopping there for a bit! I love blogging and there will definitely be a lot more to come in 2012....plus I also celebrate Chinese New Years...This Year is the Year of the Dragon! And it falls on my son's Birthday! So all you Dragons, Monkeys (me) and Rats are going to have a great year! And if you don't know your sign...just ask! I have a lot of information on the Chinese zodiac...even when your sign is combined with Western Astrology :)

Happy New Year!!!
See you in the New Year!...which is sunday :)

Mommy daughter time...

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

So with the craziness of the holidays and all the traveling we have been doing, I thought today would be a good Mommy/Daughter day....so we put on our Sunday best (in this case Wednesday) and attempted a make believe tea party. We even shot a movie! My daughter took most of these shots...and Jes took some too. We broke a few tea cups...my daughter was lucky to inherit my clumsiness. So that's what we decided our movie was going to be about...the mystyrious broken tea cups! They are china tea cups and super adorable, it's a shame some of them broke, they have actually survived 4 years and a cross country move.

The huge paper you see in the background was what she wrote our script on.

Cheers Madame :)

                                                                    Working hard on her script

Pretty Polka dots

And take a bow :)

She's wearing my fancy fluffy scarf. The tea party was a success and now we are just going to relax and enjoy the day inside...the snow is coming down like crazy out there.

Here is an out take from our little movie!

So in our rush to get out the door Friday morning to travel down to New Jersey, I actually didn't receive my Christmas present til today. I had absolutely no idea what my wife was getting me...and to my surprise it was perfect :) She somehow found time away from me (which is almost never, except for work) to buy fabric and have a clutch custom made for me by Kaylah (The Dainty Squid)....she is an amazing seamstress, and it came out perfect! Here's a few pictures....sorry if some are a little blurry...I was really excited!

As you can see Mr. Panda wallet is happy in his new home...and that fancy butterfly tattoo is from daughter's new tattoo set...we were playing tattoo shop and decided that we probably don't have a future in doing tattoos...lol

I had to share this too! Got this from my wife's Grandma :)

You can find more of Kaylah's work Here.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and if you celebrate Christmas...I hope Santa treats you well :) I just found out...very last minute...That we are leaving for New Jersey in the morning to spend the weekend with my wife's family, which will be fun! I've never spent Christmas anywhere else but my own home so I'm a little nervous...but it will be great :) I don't have to cook!! See you all soon!

Cute...but strange Thursday :)

I can't believe it's Winter Solstice already! Chanukah (Hanukkah) is on it's 3rd day and Christmas is this weekend!! Time flies...anyway, this will be my Thursday "thing". I'll be posting my strange and funny little finds, which make me smile and since it's the holidays I will try to keep that theme for today!

My wife recently has told me that she wants to learn to knit. I got really excited! Between work, school and raising kids it's hard to fit it knitting in my schedule. So I've been scoping out things and looking at magazines and other bloggers to see who knits...and their a lot of cute things I've been finding.

I can't wait to see what my wife is going to come up with...I know I want a sweater and leg warmers.
Have a great day everyone!

Poetry Tuesday

Writing...as an Art

Via Bret Mcnee Dr. Seuss original sketch

One of my all time favorite authors is Dr. Seuss. In fact my favorite book is "And To Think That I Saw IT On Mulberry Street". I am such a kid at heart that I don't ever want to grow up and my kids love it. It definitely comes out in my parenting style too. Art is all around us, in the clothes we wear, the things we see on T.V. and the internet, the books we read...even cooking/baking is an art. As with any art there are guidelines and rules...and with any artist, we all know those rules are there for breaking!

Poetry and Creative writing are my favorites, so I decided to dedicate my Tuesday's to Poetry. Why Tuesdays? Why not?

So for all you creative artists' (painters, writers, photographers, bakers, fashionista's) Here's a fun little game I play with my kid's. They don't even realize they are making poetry either!

1. Think of a name, any name, the sillier the better!

I will use Sherman Eugene

2. Think of an animal

I will go with a frog

3. Pick a color

Green will do :)

And go! Make each sentence rhyme. Don't be afraid to make up words either! You don't have to write any of it down, sometimes I will start and then my daughter will come up with a rhyming sentence, and we will do this while cleaning...it makes the cleaning fun.....or if your having a moment when you feel "stuck in a rut" making up silly rhymes will get those creative juices going!

Via Lynn Gianni

"Sherman Eugene, my your frog is so mean
he sits and just stares at the wall
with green slimy skin, I think that fly just might win
No that fly has no chance at all...."

Via Bang a Left

I once knew a fella named Sherman Eugene
he owned a small frog
who was green
and mean
he fed him some flies
and in the blink of an eye
that frog
was on his trampoline!

Have a great Tuesday! And if you come up with any cool little poems...please share them with me!
